Visitation & Parenting Services
Supporting and reuniting children and families.
Facilitated and supervised visits between parents and children working together to build healthier relationships. The goal is always to resolve concerns for the safety and well-being of the children and discharge the client.
-
What to Expect
- First, a referral is made by the Department of Community-Based Services (DCBS) worker. Then, the family is contacted to set up a Family Team Meeting (FTM).
- During the FTM, our staff learns about the family’s background, confirms the parent’s compliance, and sets expectations and locations for visits, goals, and paperwork.
- Supervised Visits are scheduled on a weekly routine and can occur at our office, in the client’s home, or in the community.
- Our Supervised Visitation Specialists can transport within Jefferson County and will document during the visits and talk through parenting skills to help facilitate healthy relationships
-
Eligibility
- To work with Family & Children’s Place, families must receive a Child Protective Services (CPS) referral.
- If you wish to learn about referring a family to us:
-
- If there is an active CPS case, the family worker fills out all necessary forms. Then, the form gets sent to the Department for Community-Based Services (DCBS) liaison and is placed on a waitlist until there is space for services.
- We do not directly accept referrals; if you have any questions about getting one, contact your CPS worker.
