Volunteers fuel successful events

April 14, 2015

ACVO-logoThis week, National Volunteer Week, is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to engage in their communities, to show by action that by working together we can meet every  challenge and accomplish every goal.

Through volunteering, people move to the center of social change – utilizing their personal and collective power to make a difference.

At Family & Children’s Place, volunteers are an invaluable source of help and support. The agency’s board is an all-volunteer corps of citizens committed to protecting and freeing children and families from violence, abuse and neglect. Our Ambassadors are young business and community-minded leaders who give of their time to support events such as the annual Caper event, our Building Brighter Futures breakfasts, golf scramble and color run.

Volunteers help with our school-based programs, encouraging and supporting students to better academic and social outcomes, and with our other programs and services, including those that help children and families navigate from hurting to healing.

As Andrew Carnegie said, “Teamwork is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.”

Kudos and many thanks to all who, through volunteerism, build better, brighter, stronger communities.
