Thanks to all who supported 30th annual CAPER

February 21, 2017

We are blown away by the turnout for the 30th annual CAPER, held Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Galt House Hotel following the UofL vs. Virginia Tech men’s basketball game. The turnout and support were amazing to see and experience, and the generosity apparent in the silent and live auctions and general donations was humbling.

Thanks to the CAPER committee and volunteers, who help organize and put on the event and to our food partners – Comfy Cow, Famous Dave’s Barbecue, McAllister’s, Chuy’s, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Elm’s Catering, Mark’s Feed Store and Drake’s. And thanks to our sponsors, starting with our official Smile and presenting sponsor, Delta Dental of Kentucky, along with Kindred Healthcare, Bingham Greenebaum Doll, Brown-Forman and Genscape.

Thanks to Denny and Susan Crum, co-chairs, for your ongoing support and inspiration, and for letting us use your name for our Denny Crum Community Service Award. We can’t express how much we appreciate you.

Thanks to the Louisville Cardinals and the U of L Athletics Department for coming by, for taking selfies with and signing autographs for the fans. You guys rock!

Thanks, Andrew Chernoff, of cn2 Sports/KSTV, for emceeing, and Murray McCandless, our energetic auctioneer, for encouraging spirited bidding in our live and silent auctions.

Thanks to everyone who came out for CAPER, who sponsored tables and bought tickets, bid in the auctions and made personal donations.

There are so many wonderful things about CAPER, but key is that while it’s a fun event, it supports a very serious subject – ending and treating child violence, abuse and neglect. It’s a party with a purpose, a point.

Every dollar raised at CAPER supports critical programs and services for children and families hurt by abuse, for at-risk students, for new parents who need a hand up to raise a healthy baby, to ensure safe visitations and to help families stay in their homes.

For nearly 135 years, children and families have counted on these services, so CAPER helps Family & Children’s Place keep our commitment to be there, to provide sanctuary and to help those hurt by abuse to heal.

We couldn’t do it without everyone who supported CAPER and who supports the agency every day. Thank you!
