Shannon Siders, Slugger museum & factory host students
September 17, 2015
Thanks to Shannon Siders, Family & Children’s Place ambassador and marketing communications associate with the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory (LSMF), for knocking one out of the park for some of our Family &School Services students!
The students, from Meyzeek Middle School, got to visit the Louisville landmark to learn about and help share in the life and legacy of Clemente, a Pittsburgh Pirates star recognized for his philanthropy and humanitarianism.
Clemente died in December 1972 on his way to Nicaragua to deliver earthquake supplies, and beginning in 1973, Major League Baseball has annually presented the Roberto Clemente Award to a deserving player.
The students toured the museum and factory and helped staff box up sporting equipment that will be sent to kids in Clemente’s native Puerto Rico. Each student also received a special Louisville Slugger mini bat that features Clemente’s signature on the barrel.
Thanks, Shannon and LSMF, for all you do for Family & Children’s Place!
