Lane family charitable endowment awards $5,000 to Family & Children’s Place

March 17, 2016

Grant will help provide increased security, safety at Clark County child advocacy center

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 17, 2016) – Family & Children’s Place has received a $5,000 grant from the George N. and Beverly Lane Charitable Endowment to help ensure safe and secure access and services for children and families who visit the agency’s Jeffersonville, Ind. (Clark County) office.

The funds will cover installation of a security door in the office, providing greater protections for the child advocacy center, said JT Henderson, vice president of Philanthropy.

“Last year, we provided counseling, referrals and other services to more than 500 children and family members hurt by abuse and neglect,” said Henderson. “Our commitment is to ensure the safest, most family friendly environment possible, and this grant helps ensure we deliver on that commitment.”

The child advocacy center – there are also centers in Louisville and New Albany – provide compassionate, coordinated intervention and investigation of child sexual and physical abuse, and last year served more than 1,300 children.

The centers provide critical services, including forensic interviews, mental health assessments, medical examinations and therapy – in collaboration with law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors and medical professionals – to support investigation and prosecution and to help heal the trauma.
