Insider Louisville promotes Family & Children’s Place event
May 18, 2015
From Insider Louisville:
One thing we really know how to do well in this city: Exploit other people’s love for bourbon to raise funds for nonprofits.
Velocity in Jeffersonville, Ind., is hosting a bourbon tasting contest to support the Family & Children’s Place on Tuesday, May 19, at 7 p.m.
Organize a group of up to five friends and bring your favorite bottle of bourbon to enter into the blind tasting competition. Guests will sample all of the bourbons and rate them. The top three winning teams take home prizes — including everyone else’s bourbon!
You don’t have to be on a team to participate. The event is free and open to anyone 21 years old or older. Donations to the Family & Children’s Place are highly recommended.
The nonprofit is probably thinking that guests will get more generous as they get more lubricated.
According to its website, the Family & Children’s Place provides individual and group counseling for children and family involved with abuse, neglect and exploitation. They work on strengthening relations in families and help guide them away from destructive practices. The program partners with Crimes Against Children Unit of Louisville Metro Police, Child Protective Services, U of L School of Medicine and the Commonwealth’s Attorney office.
