Indiana officials help open new Floyd child advocacy center
February 20, 2018
A number of Floyd County officials joined Family & Children’s Place leadership and staff in mid-February to cut the ribbon and officially open the new Floyd County Child Advocacy Center.
The center, adjacent to Baptist Health Floyd Hospital, is a partnership between Family & Children’s Place, the hospital, and Floyd Memorial Foundation. This office builds on more than 35 years of service to children and families in Floyd County and illustrates the agency’s intention to continue to partner with a purpose.
Joining Family & Children’s Place President and CEO Pam Darnall to dedicate and open the center were Wendy Dant Chesser, president and CEO of One Southern Indiana Chamber of Commerce; Sen. Ron Grooms, R-Ind.; Dr. Daniel Eichenberger, president, Baptist Health Floyd Hospital; Kevin Meriwether, F&CP board member; and Becky League, executive director of the child advocacy center.
“Today, we offer a very special and heartfelt thank you to Baptist Health Floyd for helping us provide these critical services to Floyd County families through these co-located facilities donated by the hospital and in partnership with the Floyd Memorial Foundation,: Said Darnall. “We wouldn’t be here today with these great friends and partners”
The children who visit the facility, “first and foremost, will be believed and heard. They will receive compassionate care and attention that will help them overcome trauma of abuse and the help to recover and heal.
“It’s a vow we make to every child, every family, and have for 135 years,” said Darnall.
