Thursday, Oct. 1, the Community Foundation of Louisville hosts its second Give Local Louisville. This 24-hour, online “Give Day” gives you the chance to support local nonprofits, including Family & Children’s Place, and the great work they are doing. In our case, the goal is to make the Greater Louisville Area a child abuse-free zone.

Give Local Louisville strives to inspire thousands of people to give to the causes they care about, so that the agencies can use those contributions to create impact – safe and happy children, successful students, stable families with meaningful relationships, etc. Giving is easy – and important.

You can contribute through Give Local Louisville’s proportionate match pool, which will benefit all 350-plus participating nonprofits to increase the impact of their donations, and/or make an online donation from midnight to 11:59.59 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015.

Donors who wish to use their Community Foundation Donor Advised Fund or Charitable Checking Fund have until 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25, to submit a grant request through the Community Foundation of Louisville to make a grant to their favorite agency. Another benefit to Give Local Louisville, is that on that day, every donated dollar will be multiplied through  match and prize dollars contributed by the Community Foundation of Louisville; its supporting partners LG&E and KU Energy, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kentucky, Delta Dental of Kentucky; Sam Swope Auto Group; and a generous anonymous foundation.

If we as a community don’t step up to help one another, who will? On Oct. 1, be one of the tens of thousands who step up to build a better Louisville, and help us protect and heal children and families.
