2020 Wrap Up – Thank You to Our Funders!

April 1, 2021

It’s hard to believe we have already wrapped up the first quarter of 2021, but it’s never too late to say thank you. In 2020, our largest fundraiser of the year was canceled due to COVID, but the following long-time partners stepped up and made some of their largest and most generous gifts ever to support our mission to protect and heal children and families.

Family & Children’s Place received emergency funding to continue providing services during the COVID-19 quarantine from the following:

The One Louisville Fund, organized by the Community Foundation of Louisville, gave a total of $70,000.

Delta Dental awarded $5,000 in emergency funding.

The following Kentucky based organizations gave generous gifts allowing Family & Children’s Place to sustain or expand operations.

The largest gift of 2020 came from the James Graham Brown Foundation in the amount of $300,000. While originally positioned as a matching grant, the cancellation of our annual fundraiser led the foundation to send the gift in full, knowing how important our services are to the community.

Long-time supporter, the Gheens Foundation, increased their previous award gifting Family & Children’s Place with a $75,000 grant in recognition of the agency’s work in the time of COVID.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding classroom learning and in-home services, the Ar-Hale Family Foundation gave a $25,000 gift supporting our Family & School Services and HANDS programs.

First Financial Bank allowed Family & Children’s Place the flexibility to use their $12,600 gift in any way needed to adapt during COVID. The gift was originally for the Healthy Family Nights put on by our Family & School Services program and we are happy to say the program has continued thanks to this contribution.

The Kentucky Colonels and LG&E and KU Foundation made our virtual programming possibly by providing the necessary funds to purchase 30 Chromebooks and a charting table for students at Meyzeek Middle School.

Family & Children’s Place is proud of the work done in Southern Indiana thanks to our partners across the river.

The Hazel & Walter T. Bales Foundation made a generous donation in the amount of $10,000 to support our Child Advocacy Center at Baptist Floyd Hospital.

After serving the hospital’s direct needs during the early days of the pandemic, the Floyd Memorial Foundation gave $15,000.

We can’t thank these foundations, businesses and organizations enough for their support of Family & Children’s Place, especially during a period when so many are facing never before seen challenges. It is only with community support, Family & Children’s Place is able to provide lifechanging services to families in need.
