Thoughts on this Memorial Day
May 30, 2016
Today, Memorial Day, we join everyone to remember and to honor the men and women – fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters – who gave all in service to their country. It is through their sacrifice that we may freely share our thoughts and opinions, may worship – or not – as we choose, and enjoy life and liberty as we do. So before we herald summer’s arrival with the roaring engines of the Indianapolis 500, the pyrotechnics of the country’s birthday, the aroma of barbecue and picnics, the rollercoaster screams and the splash of children at the breach and in swimming pools, we take a moment to lower our heads, close our eyes and say, thank you. Your sacrifice is not, will not be, forgotten.
