Sponsor a pinwheel and commit to prevent child abuse

March 28, 2017

In just a few days, it will be April, National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Throughout the year, Family & Children’s Place works to prevent and heal child violence and abuse through intervention, prevention and treatment, and this year, we are creating a local campaign as a part of the national Pinwheels for prevention promotion.

Since 2008, the blue and white pinwheel has been the national symbol of child abuse prevention, so we are offering individuals, agencies, companies, churches, schools, anyone, really a chance to sponsor pinwheels for just $5 apiece.

We will plant each sponsored pinwheel in a pinwheel garden – at a March 29 Rally Against Child Abuse or on our Old Louisville campus – to demonstrate sponsor’s support and commitment to helping prevent and heal child violence, abuse, and neglect. It’s an easy way to make a personal pledge to protect children or to invite friends, family, co-workers, and colleagues and others to participate and help make a profound difference for children who need the help and hope these simple symbols provide.

Companies, churches, and others can participate, too, by sponsoring or asking employees, parishioners or others to sponsor a number of pinwheels, which they can plant on company, church or other property as a show of support. We can provide the sponsored pinwheels.

Our hope is, with your support, Jefferson County will be filled with pinwheels to send the message that every kid deserves a safe childhood that’s carefree and full of promise.
