January 27, 2016
Shirley has been a Shelter Plus Care recipient since 2014. A former client of Wayside Christian Mission, she has a history of substance abuse but has worked hard to stay clean and get her life back in order.
She has held a steady job in New Albany, Ind., for a couple of years, and her daily routine requires her to catch two buses to get to work and two buses to return from work, so she must rise at 5 a.m. to get to work on time by 8 a.m.
Shirley is a model client and very compliant with the program. She has always been a go getter and thrives for success. She has been able to save more than $2,000 in is interested in applying to be a Habitat for Humanity partner family.
She has started attending Habitat classes and soon will be able to attend workshops and receive her application. Her case workers believe Shirley is a perfect candidate for Habitat for Humanity because she is works hard and strives to accomplish every goal she sets.
