Shannon McRae – October Ambassador of the month
October 22, 2015
This is one in a series of question and answer sessions with Family & Children’s Place Ambassadors, young business and community leaders helping build support for and awareness of the agency and its work.
ANSWER: Family & Children’s Place has a mission I believe in. I want to help get the word out about the organization and help it make a difference in the community.
Q: What’s your day job?
A: Business acceleration manager for McRae Technologies, LLC, and staying home with my little guy.
Q: What person do you consider your greatest influencer in terms of your own personal values?
A: My grandfather was a great influence for me growing up. He taught me persistence; that I could do anything, and to stand up for what I believe in. I attribute my need for volunteering to how incredibly generous he was.
Q: What do you hope to achieve by 50?
A: Among the many other things, I definitely want to have my Master’s degree and serve on a board of directors at some point.
Q: What teacher in school made the most impact on you and why?
A: Dr. Mikesky was the first professor I had in college and I still keep in touch with him. He had the toughest classes, but could teach the material in many different ways.
Q: When you were little, what did you want to grow up to do?
A: I wanted to go into the military. I was always intrigued by the Navy since I did NJROTC in high school.
