School’s Out, But School-Based Services Isn’t!
Summer Fun with School-Based Services
May 28, 2024
At Family & Children’s Place, one of our five programs is School-Based Services.
Our school-based programs focus on more than just homework. We also provide social-emotional support, substance abuse prevention education, mental health, family engagement and more. We help students learn how to better manage their emotions in difficult circumstances as well as the importance of working hard in school, and how both can increase their chances of success in the future.
And just because school is out for the summer, doesn’t mean we are taking a break from working with our students and their families! In fact, we have a jam-packed summer planned.
CLASP: Engelhard Elementary School in Louisville has summer programming June 3-28 Mon-Fri 9am-3pm for our students. While educational opportunities will take place to help make sure our students continue on their academic journey, there will also be fun field trips being held. These field trips include a tour of the WaterWorks Museum, Bernheim Forest, Idlewild Butterfly Farm and the Speed Art Museum.
BTS: Next Steps at Hazelwood Middle School on Southern Indiana has summer programming June 4-June 28 Tues-Fri 9am-2pm. Like our students at Engelhard, field trips are planned, along with educational opportunities to help make sure students continue on their academic journey. These field trips include a behind the scenes tour of the Floyd County 4-H fair, River Run water park, Wyandotte Cave, and Wilstem Ranch.
Of course, we are super grateful for our community partners including Purdue Nutrition, Floyd County Library, Floyd County 4-H, Jefferson County 4-H and more for being willing to always work with us to ensure our students have the best summer ever.
