On Saturday, the University of Louisville’s Building Resiliency in Campus and Community (BRICC) Coalition, the 7th Street Corridor PAL Coalition, and Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) are hosting a drive-through drug toss event.

Personal unused or expired medications can lead to accidental poisonings or overdoses at home, as well as contribute to prescription drug abuse, and improper disposal, such as flushing or pouring down the drain, can contaminate water systems.

Additionally, throwing unused or expired drugs into the trash risks them being stolen and sold on the streets, so this event provides for safe and legal disposal of the no longer needed prescriptions.

The drug toss is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium at 2800 S. Floyd St., in Louisville.

So safeguard your home and your city and properly dispose of unused and expired medications. It’s a true public service.
