Lauren Lee — December Ambassador of the Month
December 7, 2015
This is one in a series of question and answer sessions with Family & Children’s Place Ambassadors, young business and community leaders helping build support for and awareness of the agency and its work.
ANSWER: During college, I had a summer internship at the New Orleans Children’s Advocacy Center. This experience gave me an up-close education on child abuse and family issues in the United States, and when I moved to Louisville, it motivated me to look up volunteer opportunities at Family & Children’s Place. As I continue to learn more about all the things F&CP does for the community, I can’t help but feel so proud to be involved in an organization like this.
Q: What’s your day job?
A: I’m an analyst on Humana’s Corporate Strategy team.
Q: What person do you consider your greatest influencer in terms of your own personal values?
A: My two older brothers have definitely had the biggest influence on the development of my personal values. They have been a constant source of support and guidance, and I have and will always look up to them.
Q: What do you hope to achieve by 50?
A: It’s hard to imagine my life at 50, but I hope that at that age I am still challenging myself to always learn or try something new.
Q: What’s your favorite local restaurant and why do you love it?
A: I am a loyal and devoted follower of Mussel and Burger Bar. It was one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved to Louisville, and I drag all of my out-of-town visitors there when I have the chance. The burgers are unbelievably decadent, and the steak fries are literally the size of my hands. I always need a nap after a visit to MBB, but it’s so worth it.
