Congratulations to Katya Estes on her selection as a member the Survivors Council for the office of Kentucky Atty. Gen. Andy Beshear.

Estes endured abuse by her grandfather, and last year won a keystone civil case against him, will be an important and powerful voice for the council and for children and families hurt by trauma of abuse.

Estes, who does not like the word, victim, sees herself – as do we – as a warrior.

We are proud and humbled that she has been a warrior for Family & Children’s Place and that now she takes up the battle for the voiceless, the left behind, the hidden – child victims of violence and abuse.
