Sponsors will help bring joy, ensure the kind of holiday every child deserves

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 4, 2015) – The holidays are a time of excitement and anticipation – but not for all. For children and families enduring trauma from abuse and neglect, the holidays too often bring additional stress with little joy.

Family & Children’s Place is busy doing everything we can to help with coping and recovery from trauma and stress, but we could use your help with the joy.

By signing up to support our Brighter Holidays program, you can help on two fronts – ensuring we are able to use our precious resources to provide compassionate and caring help to families in dire need of hope, and helping provide the kind of holiday that every child deserves.

This year, we hope to provide holiday gifts to 175 children getting needed help through the agency, but we need sponsors. We will match each sponsor with a child or children and provide them needed information – real first name, age, gender, clothing sizes and an idea of the child’s interests.

Participating children and families are from our HANDS program, Family Stabilization Services, Child & Family Services and child advocacy centers in Kentucky and Indiana. The suggested gift value is $75 per child, which we know is no small sum, but imagine the joy and happiness it will mean to a struggling child and family. And the joy you will feel by living the true spirit of giving.

Sponsors, whether it is for one child or several, will have the fun of shopping for that child or children, then dropping off the gifts – wrapped and labeled with the child’s name, at the agency’s Old Louisville (525 Zane St.) or Grantline Road office in New Albany, Ind., to be delivered to the child.

To ensure on-time delivery, the deadline to sign up to be a sponsor is Nov. 15, and gifts should be delivered to the agency’s Louisville office between Dec. 7 and Dec. 18, and on Dec. 9 and 18, between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., or Dec. 10 and 15, between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., in New Albany.
