HANDS
Sometimes we all could use another set of hands.
A support system at your fingertips.
Many new and expectant parents could use additional support to help them navigate the challenges of raising a child. Whatever the issue, our skilled and dedicated staff in the HANDS program can help.
-
What to Expect
- After a referral is made, the family is contacted by HANDS staff to schedule an initial home visit.
- During the initial visit, a HANDS Assessment Home Visitor will go over paperwork, program information, community resources and complete an assessment to see if you qualify for on-going home visitation services.
- Next, an Ongoing Home Visitor will visit, do activities and share information with you and your family about parenting skills like recognizing baby’s needs, what to expect as baby grows, making the home safe and any other questions or concerns parents may have.
- If you and your family do not speak English, don’t worry! HANDS works with trained interpreters to be able to provide services in your native language.
-
Eligibility
HANDS is for ALL new and expectant parents. Referrals can be made by anyone! You, your doctor’s office, friends, family, church, etc.
At Family & Children’s Place, we know that everyone needs help from time to time. Our curriculum, Growing Great Kids, is based on scientific research and is evidence based. Families who enroll can be confident and optimistic about their family’s future, in part because of the support they get from our staff.
