Family & Children’s Place receives $10,000 grant from Delta Dental of Kentucky

March 13, 2019

Delta Dental of Kentucky has awarded a $10,000 grant to support Family and Children’s Place (FCP). Family and Children’s Place focuses on preventing and stopping trauma in children as well as providing counseling services and other assistance to victims throughout the recovery process. This includes physical and sexual abuse, neglect and maltreatment and human trafficking. The funds will support a variety of the agency’s programs that are provided to more than 23,000 Kentuckians annually.

“Over the past three years, we have seen a dramatic increase across the region in the number of families needing our services,” said Pam Darnall, President/CEO of Family & Children’s Place.  “The grant from Delta Dental will allow us to reach even more communities and foster an environment that helps produce healthy, happy children.”

Family & Children’s Place prevention programs include home visitation services for children who have a higher risk experiencing trauma and school -based services designed to improve academic outcomes and strengthen families who have a greater risk of experiencing physical or sexual abuse. Families and children who have experienced trauma are supported through the agency’s Child Advocacy Center which offers counseling services and other proven interventions that support recovery. Darnall says the holistic approach that includes a focus on prevention and intervention helps to produce better outcomes for families Family & Children’s Place serves.

Jude Thompson, President and CEO of Delta Dental, says that the grant to
Family & Children’s Place reflects the company’s longstanding commitment to support efforts and organizations that strengthen communities across the state.

“A key priority for Delta Dental is making sure all
children have the support and care they need to grow into healthy happy
adults,” said Thompson.  “The investment
we are making in Family and Children’s Place supports this goal and will ensure
some of our youngest Kentuckians will smile again and enjoy the type of
childhood every kid deserves.”
