Etscorn Foundation grants $5,000 to Family & Children’s Place

December 11, 2015

Funds will provide greater mobility, more flexible support for Family Stabilization Program clients

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 11, 2015) – Family & Children’s Place has received a $5,000 grant from the Irvin F. and Alice S. Etscorn Foundation, a trust managed by Hilliard Lyons, Louisville. The grant will be used to purchase laptop computers for the agency’s Family Stabilization Program.

“This grant will support Family & Children’s Place efforts to be more mobile, more flexible in working with our growing client caseload,” said Pam Darnall, agency president and CEO. “The laptops will make it possible for our caseworkers to capture and input real-time information and data during home visits and meetings, which will help us provide for them better plans, programs and solutions.”

Family Stabilization works with families in:

  • Permanent supported housing: families that are homeless and individuals with a disability in the household.
  • Rapid re-housing: time-limited assistance with rent for families who have become homeless, mostly for economic reasons.
  • Homeless prevention for anyone exiting foster care, mental health institutions or prison in Louisville.

Additionally, Family & Children’s Place provides research-based and trauma-informed treatment and counseling services that promote safe, healthy and stable families in Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana.

The foundation typically supports capital projects in the Louisville area, but considers others requests, such as this one, based on merits and contributions to the community.
