On July 8, 2015, Family & Children’s Place leaders hosted members of the Board of Directors of the Walter and Hazel Bales Foundation for a tour and orientation of the agency’s new Clark County office in Jeffersonville, Ind. This was the board’s first look at the new office, which it is supporting through a $15,000 grant. Agency leaders, including John Taylor, Becky League and Megan Cade, led the small group through the offices, describing the counseling services provided to Clark County families in crisis and forensic interviews, which aid in the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases for multiple counties in Southern Indiana. The Bales group included, Foundation Executive Director Lori Lewis, Vice President Les Albro (Hazel Bales’ cousin and a salesman at Bales automotive for 59 years, who worked alongside Walter Bales to build the business), board member Sylvia Cubranic (Hazel Bales’ sister), and foundation secretary Judy Adamson, (Cubranic’s daughter and niece of Walter and Hazel Bales). Founded in 1989, the Walter & Hazel Bales Foundation has a large philanthropic footprint in the Clark County community. The foundation’s focus is improving the lives of those in need in Clark County, Southern Indiana and Jefferson County, Ky. We appreciate their partnership as we work to protect and heal children and families, freeing them from abuse.
