Bales Foundation awards $15,000 to Family & Children’s Place

June 2, 2015

Grant will provide critical services to trauma-affected children, families in Clark County, Indiana

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 2, 2015) – Family & Children’s Place recently received a $15,000 grant from the Hazel & Walter T. Bales Foundation Inc., which it will use to provide support services and security in the agency’s new office on West Court Avenue in Jeffersonville, Ind.

“This generous grant will enable us to provide critical life-changing help and support to Clark County children and families suffering trauma due to abuse, violence and neglect,” said JT Henderson, Family & Children’s Place vice president of Resource Development. “It will provide greater security, too, providing an important, extra layer of protection for families who’ve been victims of or witnessed violent acts.”

The Hazel & Walter T. Bales Foundation Inc., which funds Southern Indiana projects and programs that contribute to better communities, has supported the agency since 2011. This is the foundation’s largest gift to Family & Children’s Place, which has two offices in Southern Indiana, on Grant Line Road in New Albany in Floyd County and the new office in Jeffersonville.

The Jeffersonville office expands services to Clark County children, couples and families, to help them navigate and resolve problems affecting their personal and family life, with an emphasis on trauma interventions and family counseling. The office also provides parenting assessment and education, school-based services and supervised visitation between children and their parents, siblings, grandparents and others.

“The generosity of The Hazel and Walter T. Bales Foundation has enabled Family & Children’s Place to continue providing critical services in Southern Indiana and now, with a focus in Clark County,” said Pam Darnall, the agency’s president and CEO.

The gift also affords the foundation sponsorship benefits, including recognition as a Southern Indiana Flagship Partner, lead sponsorship for a fall community fundraising event in Southern Indiana and Table Sponsor at the annual spring Southern Indiana Building Brighter Futures Breakfast.
