August 24, 2015

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 24, 2015) — Family & Children’s Place has received a $5,000 grant from the AR-HALE Family Foundation Inc., funds it will use to will help support work at its Kosair Charities Child Advocacy Center (KCCAC).

AR HaleThe Lima, Ohio, foundation supports philanthropic and religious initiatives that help families and children, primarily in communities where foundation shareholders reside, with emphasis on Louisville; Allen, Auglaize and Shelby counties, and the cities of Dayton and Lima, Ohio; Shawnee, OK.; and Erie, PA.

Family & Children’s Place gives Louisville area child victims of abuse, neglect and exploitation and their families a place to go to work through and heal trauma. We supervise safe parent-child visitations; help at-risk families stay in safe, secure homes; help new parents raise happy, healthy babies; and help students improve grades and behaviors.

The KCCAC provides compassionate, coordinated intervention, treatment and investigation of child sexual and physical abuse. The center, in Old Louisville, houses in one place therapists, forensic interviewers, the Crimes Against Children Unit of Louisville Metro Police, Child Protective Services, Commonwealth’s Attorney office and physicians from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, who work collaboratively to stop, investigate and prosecute child abuse and help child survivors and their families heal.

Last year, KCCAC professionals stopped the trauma of sexual and physical abuse and provided compassionate and comprehensive care for more than 1,300 Louisville-area children.
