Alexis and Isaiah: Together Again
Alexis & Isaiah's Story
May 9, 2025
By the age of six, Alexis was removed from her parents. Growing up, she lived in twelve different foster homes before becoming homeless as a young adult.
Being homeless was hard. Her childhood was shaped by abuse and neglect, and with no family support, Alexis experienced more violence and turned to drugs to escape.
When she found out she was pregnant, Alexis felt hope for the first time in a long time. She wanted to be healthy for her baby and decided to get sober. She dreamed of being the mom she never had and focused on caring for her son, Isaiah.
For a while, things were going well. But after experiencing domestic violence and relapsing, Alexis lost custody of Isaiah.
That’s when she turned to Family & Children’s Place for help. It was a hard time—she feared her son didn’t know or love her—but she didn’t give up.
Alexis stayed committed to her recovery and showing up for her son. She attended every parenting class and court date. Thanks to her strength, and support from Family & Children’s Place, she was reunited with Isaiah. She always believed they’d be together again.
