Every story about child abuse is horrific and tragic, but some rise to the level of incredulity. Such is a case in North Carolina, dating back to 2013, when deputies found an 11-year-old boy chained to a porch with a dead chicken around his neck. Making it even more inexplicable is the fact the boy’s foster parents were a social services supervisor in the county and a nurse. The two entered guilty pleas for child abuse and other offenses, but you need to read the doled out sentences. You also need to read the boy’s account of what happened – his story, his words.
