First Savings Bank welcomed Family & Children’s Place CEO, Pam Darnall, to their headquarters in Jeffersonville, IN, in June. The visit included a check presentation for $8,200 raised from a variety of fundraising efforts, including a Pinwheel Campaign!

Jessica Sawyer, Vice-President – Senior Internal Auditor, at First Savings Bank was a member of a previous Ambassador class at Family & Children’s Place and loved volunteering with School-Based Services at Meyzeek Middle School. Her Ambassador cohort worked with students to create 3 different service projects in the community that the kids planned, organized and carried out. She said that being an Ambassador for FCP helped change her life. She realized for the first time that not only was she volunteering with the children, but that they gave back to her so much more than she ever could have asked for.

In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, held annually in April, First Savings Bank chose March and April to fundraise for Family & Children’s Place. They held a Thunder Over Louisville tailgate fundraiser as well as March Madness brackets contest, and a Luck of the Draw contest for those who don’t like basketball. MCM (Mountjoy Chilton Medley) employees also participated in the Thunder fundraiser, as MCM rents space at the FSB Headquarters building.

In addition, First Savings Bank held a Pinwheel Campaign which involved placing paper pinwheels in their 15 branches for employees and customers to “purchase”. Donors could write their name or the name of someone they were honoring with their donation in the middle of the pinwheel.
